!!! a small warning before you read: discussions of hospitalization, emergency surgery, recovery, and medical stress.
Sorry for being a little inactive lately. Life has been really heavy these past few weeks, physically and mentally, and I’ve just been trying to get through everything one day at a time.

I recently went through an emergency surgery for appendicitis after weeks of trying to push through the pain. It honestly took a lot out of me–going in and out of hospitals and emergency rooms, not knowing what was wrong, then suddenly finding out I needed surgery as soon as possible. It was a pretty exhausting experience, especially with the upcoming midterms happening at the same time, so things became overwhelming really fast.
I didn’t really tell anyone while I was going through it either. Only one person truly knew what was happening, and I guess that experience taught me a lot about who actually shows up for you when things get hard.
And honestly, going back to the real world after surgery was harder than I expected too. Recovering while dealing with life, going back to school, catching up on missed plates, presentations, and deadlines, mentally and physically drained me more than I thought it would. Some days still feel heavier than others..
But despite everything, I’m really thankful for my family for staying strong for me through all of this. I’m thankful for Mochi too, who genuinely did not leave my side during recovery and somehow always knew when I needed comfort most. And I’m also grateful for our family friends who supported my family during such a difficult time. It reminded me that even in really painful seasons of life, there are still people who care for you quietly and sincerely.

And as silly as it sounds lol, the Eras Tour is what became one of the things keeping me going during this whole fight mentally and physically. I love Ate Nicole and Ate Nica so much!
I remember being so determined to get better because I needed to make it to the Singapore leg of the tour, and my mom would literally tell me to keep fighting so I could still take her with me next time haha! Somehow, having something to look forward to really helped me hold on through the harder days!
Recovery has been slow, and I still can’t do much because of my stitches, but I’m grateful to have friends who still make an effort to include me even when all I can really do is sit there and vibe haha.
So yeah, posts might continue to be slower than usual for a bit, but I’m okay now, slowly getting there : )
Hoping for better days ahead!
D.
